No matter what kind of business you run, having a clean bathroom for your employees and customers to use throughout the day is vital to your success.
After all, maintaining a clean bathroom lets your employees and customers know you care about their well-being. It’s an essential space that can leave people with a positive or negative impression of your business, depending on the shape it’s in.
With that in mind, it’s imperative to inspect and clean your bathroom stalls regularly. However, as a business owner, time is often scarce, and important tasks like cleaning can fall by the wayside as a result. That’s where a solid routine can save the day.
To give you a leg up, here are six helpful tips for maintaining clean bathroom stalls that will help you implement a solid routine throughout your facility.
Bathroom partitions are available in several different materials. The one you select depends partially on the aesthetic you want to maintain.
However, before deciding which material might work best for you, it’s also important to understand that each partition requires a slightly different approach to cleaning.
Stainless steel partitions are a favorite throughout the industry due to their durability and longevity. They look great with just about any decorating style and are easy to clean.
Powder-coated partitions are durable and inherently resistant to rust and other types of corrosion.
Phenolic partitions are made from layers of paper coated in a phenolic resin. They’re exceptionally lightweight and are known for their water-resistant properties.
Plastic laminate partitions are similar to phenolic partitions but are constructed from laminated particleboard, making them somewhat more durable.
HDPE partitions are molded from solid plastic. As such, they’re resistant to rust, mold, and water damage.
Stainless steel partitions are astonishingly easy to clean, so long as you don’t needlessly overcomplicate things. All you need to do is wipe them down with an approved cleaning solution once per day.
If it’s necessary to scrub your partitions, make sure you use a microfiber cloth or soft sponge; scratchy cotton towels can scratch the steel. Also, avoid using products containing bleach or alkali, as these can damage stainless steel partitions.
To clean your powder-coated partitions, you’ll need warm water, soap, and a soft cloth. Start by wiping them down from top to bottom with a cloth saturated with your preferred cleaning solution or warm, soapy water. Then, use another cloth to remove any lingering soap residue.
When you’re done, consider waxing your partitions to preserve their shine. Periodic waxing can also act as a sealant, which provides additional benefits.
As with stainless steel partitions, you’ll want to avoid using products containing bleach or alkali. Lastly, make sure you wipe away any excess moisture to avoid leaving water marks on your freshly cleaned partitions.
As mentioned, phenolic partitions consist of layers of paper. That means they require a little extra care during the cleaning process.
To touch up your phenolic partitions, use a soft-bristled brush and a mild cleaning solution or mixture of warm water and soap. After giving them a good scrubbing, simply hose them down.
If your partitions have graffiti or other markings on them, try cleaning them with a bleach-based cleaner or degreaser.
If your plastic laminate partitions are dingy or stained, go over them with an acetic acid-based bathroom cleaner. Just make sure you use a mild solution and a soft-bristled brush to do the bulk of your cleaning. Stay away from abrasive sponges and rags, as these could scratch your partitions.
To clean HDPE partitions, all you need to do is wipe them with warm water and a soft cloth. When you’re finished, spray them off or wipe them with a separate cloth saturated with clean water, then let them dry.
